Microneedling is a gentle, science-backed treatment designed to support your skin’s natural renewal process. Using ultra-fine needles, the treatment creates tiny microchannels in the skin. These microchannels stimulate collagen and elastin production — the building blocks of smooth, firm, and radiant skin.
At Bert’s Apothecary, we see microneedling not just as a cosmetic procedure, but as part of a holistic journey towards skin health and confidence.
Why Choose Microneedling
- Boosts natural collagen: Helps soften fine lines and improve skin elasticity.
- Evens skin tone: Can reduce the appearance of pigmentation, acne marks, and sun damage.
- Refines texture: Leaves skin feeling smoother and more luminous.
- Enhances absorption: Post-treatment, your skin is more receptive to nourishing serums and hydrating actives.
Before the treatment
- Avoid any skin treatments 2 weeks before microneedling
- Don’t use any active skin treatments 2 days before microneedling
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure 3 days before microneedling
- Don’t use make-up on the day of treatment
What to Expect
- During treatment: You may feel a light prickling sensation, but most people find it very tolerable. You may experience some pinprick bleeding.
- After treatment: Your skin may look a little pink, like a mild sun-kissed glow, which usually settles within 24–48 hours. You may experience some swelling or skin flakiness.
- Results: Improvements build gradually as your skin renews itself, with best results seen after a short course of treatments.
Aftercare at Bert’s Apothecary
We recommend keeping things simple and soothing in the first 48 hours:
- No make-up for the first 24 hours
- Hydrate with gentle, fragrance-free serums (like hyaluronic acid)
- Protect with a broad-spectrum SPF, avoid sun exposure for 7 days
- Avoid strong actives (retinol, high-strength Vitamin C, exfoliating acids) until your skin barrier has recovered
Bert’s skin reset ritual
- Phase 1 (Immediately after): sterile hyaluronic acid/polynucleotides/NCFT
- Phase 2 (24–48 hrs): add soothing niacinamide or peptides
- Phase 3 (after 7 days): reintroduce antioxidants like Vitamin C
- Phase 4 (after 2 weeks): resume retinol if part of your routine skin care regime
